Replace the sound system in the UBC Chapel

The very old Power Amplifier in the Church Chapel has been having problems with noise especially when trying to adjust the volume levels. Our chair person Linda finally said upgraded it. Upon examining the old system I thought we were not using 70 Amp speakers. I found a Rockville unit – RSG15 that had 4 XLR preamp inputs, a linein, and lineout output.

This seemed to satisfy the need to supply the audio to the PC we use for Live broadcast. The unit was a conventional 4 or 8 Ohm compatible output. After I installed it I discovered looking at the old power amp we did have 70 volt speakers. The output was very low. I got a Wireless Mike system with 2 mics. I replaced the pulpit mic with one of the wireless mics. I gave the pastor the other one to use for the Children’s Sermon. This made the system have a acceptable output level.

Bottom line is we really need to replace the speakers with conventional ones ( 4 or 8 ohm impedance). It seems the old amp as well as the speakers are +40 years old.
